Today we’re checking out more of Maltego’s Interface – the Manage tab.
This tab is full of ways to manage and work with the separate windows on your Maltego platform. Starting from the right side in Maltego 3.4, is a section called Windows. If you want to close or minimize all of your windows, or choose to maximize any window with this section. Play with these different Windows selections to see what each one does.
The next section is Transforms. If you click discover transforms, Maltego will look through various seeds for new transforms you can add to your list. You can add them manually or just run a background update. Manage Transforms lets you manage known transforms available and add them to your list. If any were publicly made by the community, you may have to accept a disclaimer to be able to use them. Transform servers shows you the servers used to run your specific transforms. Lastly is sets, which lets you group transforms based on name, description, and more. Under the transform manager, you can create your own sets if you want. I made a set called Shannons Favs and I can drag and drop transforms over to it.
Now is the Entities section, which is similar to the Transforms section. You can also create new entities, or manage entities. Managing lets you import or export them, create new ones, and edit preexisting ones. If you’ve created notes, labels, or want to see more information on links, this can also be found under this manage tab in Maltego.
Let me know what you think. Send me a comment below or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. And be sure to check out our sister show, Hak5 for more great stuff just like this. I’ll be there, reminding you to trust your technolust.
