This time on the show I’m checking out your favorite jailbroken apps for iphone.

You guys have sent in a slew of sweet looking apps for jailbroken iOS devices, and here are just a few of my favs:

Scott writes in and says to check out-

vWallpaper is an app for video backgrounds. It lets you use animated backgrounds and create an effect with the touch of your finger. It’s available in Cydia. FolderEnhancer gives you Folders inside folders plus folder wallpapers, animations, and more. Yourtube 2 lets you download videos from youtube in the native youtube app, and get them directly on your phone or other devices. It has an integrated icon to download in the Youtube app. It’s $5.00 though, so its your call if you want to download it or not. Infidock lets you have more than 4 icons in the dock, and it costs 99 cents.

Mike sent in-

Shrink. For an icon setup of 5×5 or even 6×6 shrink will save the day and you can decrease the size of your icons so they’re not all squished if you’re running anything but the 4×4 setup. It’s 99 cents in the Cydia store. Ok, those are all nice and simple GUI fixes. Lets check out some hacker apps.

MetadataRemovr is Faaaaantastic if you’re downloading a bunch of stuff from Installous. Many times you don’t find the most recent version cracked and you’ll be using an older version. This causes iTunes to freak out telling you you’ve got 123 programs that need updating (and they’re all installous downloads) so just run this, press the “Remove all Fake Metadata!” button and boom! No more annoying upgrades from iTunes! Best of all, it’s free. BiteSMS. You should definitely check out bitesms from the cydia store. Bite SMS comes with lots of extra features like smileys, Quick Reply, Quick Compose, privacy, scheduled SMS, passcode lock, delivery reports, signatures, and much more! It’s free for 14 days or $10 lifetime, or pay nothing and get ads in the app.

Jarmo sends in a tip-

You can install a svn (subversion) server to a jailbroken iphone, so you can use metasploits trunk and SET (secmaniac.org).

And Ed sends in a few cool ones as well-

BTStackGPS – allows me get GPS co-ordinated from my bluetooth GPS receiver and use location based apps. It’s $5 in the Cydia store. I could totally use this for when I want to go Geocache hunting! CloudBrowse – tunnels to a remote Firefox session allowing for FLASH and JAVA- Non Jailbroken App.

Mike sends in this last tip:

Finally, not really a Cydia App, but something worth noting… Android for iPhone! I had this working great on my 3G Running 3.1.2 (Won’t run on 3.1.3 or higher just yet) but it’s not too bad. Phone gets a little hot and battery life drains considerably quickly, but hey! It’s Android on an iPhone! When you start the phone it’ll give you an option to start in iOS or Android which is great! Best part is, when v14 hits the shelves, you’ll have full access to the Android Market! (And hopefully iPhone 4 Support!)
