So, you open up your favorite IRC client and are ready to get down and dirty with #hak5, you connect to irc.hak5.org and join #hak5, but wait, you're suddenly on Zone-9 IRC and have no idea why? Let me explain
Earlier today Hak.5s DNS was updated, and irc.hak5.org now points to irc.zone-9.org instead of irc.mintirc.net. Does this mean #hak5 is gone? Of course not, it may have a facelift in the way of getting a new name, but apart from that all the channel regulars will still be there. How can I fix this? Simple! Simply change your auto connect script/client feature to point to irc.mintirc.net instead of irc.hak5.org (Unless you want to chill in #hakhouse of course) and then join #hak5, you will then be welcomed back by all your old, and possibly new buddies. For whatever reason (likely because it's the channel that the crew have displayed on a screen at home), it was decided that #hakhouse would be the new official channel rather than #hak5, so they have a redirection in place and #hak5 is a hidden channel. Basically, #hakhouse is the official channel, but everyone's used to going to #hak5, it just sends you to the correct new channel. #hak5 on Zone9's network, as far as users are concerned, does not exist. You're not missing anything by not being in there.
