This time on the show, bypass restrictive firewalls with a free and open source virtual private network server for windows and linux that will have you connecting back to the home or office with just a web browser!

Up already? Damn man get some sleep.

/me downloads straight away to watch.

Hope Matt get's better soon ( I think I sent the picture to the wrong address for him, whoops). And Shannon is, well whatever she is up to.

Loved the detail on the VPN, definately something useful for future reference. Want to see more biking bits too, so heading over to see that on your site Darren.

Next episode looks interesting. I got to meet Bob Bruninga a few weeks ago in Maryland. I happened to be in town for a client and he was giving a talk at a local ham radio meeting.

Very nice and detailed epi, I am certainly going to try this for a few clients who cant be bothered to get an unrestrictive internet ISP.

It was also nice for a change to see a single topic covered instead of a 3 topic mash up that is only 13 seconds in length

Nice work Darren, Isn't it nice to be crack free smile.gif

It is nice to be crack free and it makes me happy that you guys are enjoying the longer and more detailed segments. This formula seems to work from time to time. I don't plan to switch to a completely single topic show from now on however. I like the variety. We'll keep a mix of formats as the season progresses. At least this way we please some of the people some of the time wink.gif

I gotta admit, I liked the single topic show. Maybe not something for every show, but definitely liked the in depth aspect of it. Probably going to have to watch it again though when I can pay more attention to it.

Hmm, I found Openvpn ALS
http://sourceforge.net/projects/openvpn-als/

QUOTE
OpenVPN ALS is a web-based SSL VPN server written in Java. It has a browser-based AJAX UI which allows easy access to intranet services. OpenVPN ALS is a direct descendant of Adito, which was a fork of SSL-Explorer.

Yeah they changed the name of the project and changed the sourceforge URL but they haven't released anything since they were called Adito so, it's just a formality at the moment I suppose. Waiting to see what the new version will bring. I'll be sure to highlight it when it comes out. From what I've read the OpenVPN company hired a dedicated developer to help with the project. Should be good smile.gif

Great episode. I liked the single in-depth approach though I agree that it wouldn't be right to adopt this format for each episode. I'm really enjoying this VPN series as it's stimulating me to looking more into Linux. As a Linux noob, I've been told that Ubuntu is probably the most friendly distro so that's the way that I'm going.

Keep up the good work Darren (et al)!

Well Darren, Can I just say that this episode was really well done , it was the prefect length for the subject and covering both flavours of O/S which was great , I think this was really informative and will get people trying out a very powerful and scalable product from a single home user to a company of 100 + people.

I like the motorcycle intro and exit , I think the mentioning of the motorcycle angles head being missing was an interesting point, combine that with the intro where it looks alitle bit like your heads falling off it might be worth checking it's still full attached to your body !

also darren , the man who seems to have done alot of hacks and a fair share of some "crack"s i'm thinking a horn upgrade / hack is required smile.gif

Great show buddy

Thanks

Sparky

Heh, heh there's no place for the air tank. A guy I know had real train horns mounted on his truck, He had a 50 gallon air compressor in the bed to power the horns.

Hellas are good horn, had them on my Subaru and they we're plenty loud on a car so they'd work great on a bike.

Excellent episode.

I had difficulties tethering Adito to my AD (Server 2003 in VMWare Workstation - dreamspark ftw). When I inputted the settings and hit next, it just showed the same page. You have to enter the FQDN (Eris.local instead of ERIS for me - yes, my virtual domain is named after the greek goddess of discord)

i had a similar prob on my Win2003r2 x64 VM but the problem is that i also have is that i run a sharepoint server off another VM and was using 443 over the network so Adito wouldn't complete the setup with that port active. had to shut down the sharepoint vm before it would complete

and had the same issue with my cerebellum.Obfuscated.global server where it wouldn't complete that page either till i did the FQDN as a .com or a .local
weird

Why not use a different port? I did (stupid ISP blocking)
