Just a thought for you “cable managment” (or cable managment).
Since it’s difficult to hide your ethernet cables and power cables to your picture frame cases (I LOVE those btw), I figure why hide them at all? I’d have the power cable come out from the bottom of the frame as you have done, but I’d bring the data cable out trought the top corner.
Beyond that I’d layout the frames in a polygon and have your router in the middle of the polygon as well as an outlet/extention cable(s). This would enable a design of sorts for the backdrop/wall. I would be keen on a spider web motif playing on “THE web”. The tricky part with this would be trying to make your router actually look like a spider, perhaps with arials for if and when yall deside to incorporate wireless.
Anywayz doz B me 2 centz, Love the show! It R0XX0RZ! Keep up teh gr8 work!
Cheers Moonie ^_^

@.@ OMG SORRY FOR THE TRIPPLE POST T_T
Hey hak5 team I stumbled to your pc server case and I gots say I fell in love with it!
So much so that I now want make my own, and since I dont have a clue where to find that frame anywhere, I was wounding if you can post up a link or something that would be great!
Also if you can post up all the materials you used would really help my build a lot.

I believe Darren said he just picked them up at ikea

Tad curious how loud those 1U PSU’s you’re using are on the Frame Servers? I work a ton of rackmount servers and I can’t think of any 1U PSUs that I’ve worked with that didn’t make me want to throw it out the window.
I liked the idea so much that I built one for my store a couple months back. I needed all I/O ports though, as this is the computer that I run my day to day business from. I wired up audio, 2xUSB, VGA, serial, parallel, ethernet, a telephone jack for the USB modem and power – all to the bottom of the frame. The wiring is a little ugly, but it was necessary.
I run 1xSSD and 1xHDD inside the frame, and with an i5-2500 CPU with the stock cooler, I found it got very warm inside, so the back of the frame is vented in two places and there is a 60mm intake fan and 60mm exhaust fan. The fans work ok because I put 1cm high feet at each corner of the frame, so it is raised off the wall a little.
For Zaephor, who asked about the small PSU and the noise – you don’t use a server class PSU as their fans are very loud and spin at very high RPM. I used a Seasonic FlexATX size 250W unit (model SS-250SU) and it is very quiet.
Only pic of mine is on the Google Places site for my store.
My parts are coming in! Slowly… I dn if I can get the shadowbox from ikea anymore but I’ll be checking that out a little later tonight. Anyway I decide to make this my nas using a dual core atom board. The putting a power adapter on it that uses a brick instead of a power supply so i will only need a hole to mount my ethernet jack, plug for brick and esata for any drives I want to attach. I’m pretty excited about this build!
