Hacking the Motorola Droid: Root Access!
As expected the Motorola Droid has been rooted. That is to say there’s a hack that’ll unlock SU, or super user privileges on the phone. The hack is essentially su bundled in an unsigned update that can be run from the SD card. The unlocking process, which has changed since introduction, is outlined at this AllDroid.org forum thread.
At time of writing the process is to download this zip, rename it to update.zip and copy it to the root of your Droid’s SD card. Shutdown the Droid and start it by holding Power and X. Once greeted by an exclamation point on your screen hold the camera and volume+ buttons. From the menu choose the update.zip with the D-Pad, and once updated choose reboot.
Keep in mind that when it comes to unlocking moving targets like this it’s best to check with droid forums beforehand.

Where is the torrent for the USB bootable Chrome OS?

CAN U PL TELL HOW TO MOVE APP,GAME,ETC TO SD CARD IN ANDROID 2.1 MILESTONE
In Settings->Apps Manager you select the app you want to move, there should be a button to move to/from phone/SD card.
I moved a bunch of my stuff already.
How safe are these custom roms for phones? I rooted one of my phones just for the heck of it but it always stuck in the back of my mind that there may be a bot farm or a site where the “chefs” (as XDA Developers and Modaco calls them) are sitting back watching the phones log in. When you bring up security and malicious roms they talk about peer review – all of the chefs are from UK or Poland it just sounds like one of those Ebay/419 scams where everybody is in on it except us – the guys that are locked out of the code. Has anybody heard of any major holes or funny business going on with these custom roms/rooting kits for smart phones.
dats nice.
