I rooted one of my phones just for the heck of it but it always stuck in the back of my mind that there may be a bot farm or a site where the "chefs" (as XDA Developers and Modaco calls them) are sitting back watching the phones log in. When you bring up security and malicious roms they talk about peer review - all of the chefs are from UK or Poland it just sounds like one of those Ebay/419 scams where everybody is in on it except us - the guys that are locked out of the code. Has anybody heard of any major holes or funny business going on with these custom roms/rooting kits for smart phones. How safe are these custom roms for phones?
